Spring is here, thank goodness, and we’re all at the point of madness after nearly six weeks of COVID lockdown here in Melbourne and I’ve got just the thing for you.
I spent some time thinking about the most cost-effective but long-lasting updates we could make to a child’s bedroom to bring some new spring brightness and freshness without breaking the bank.
I’ve chosen a few pieces that are more costly that you may not need to update, but if you do they’ll last you for years and you can either pass them down or pass them on.
The other items in the room are fun and won’t break the bank and will work in a boys room or you can snag them for other areas of the house when you change things up in future!

The bunk bed, below, is a great piece from Living Styles that can be converted into two King Single beds which is super versatile and long lasting
The bookshelf is a Kmart bargain. It’s cheap but owning a few of these myself I can attest to their durability.
I love these cushions from Adairs because they’re versatile enough for a kids room or anywhere else around the house if you need a change.
The side table is a new release from Kmart, as is the lamp and the bean bag chair. They’re cheap enough to swap out when you want a change and pass them onto the op-shop but they’re good quality so you can pass them around the family too.
Although most of us aren’t going crazy and painting entire rooms I’ve included some perfect blues/greys if you’re looking for a big bang for your buck effect. These are some of the beautiful blues from Dulux.
If you haven’t seen these storage crates from Hay you’re seriously missing out! They come in so many great colours, from candy shades to earthy tones and are great for kids and around the home as well!
I also found some fun decor that any kid will love – not to mention a lot of adults too! These are from Typo and you’ll find different options in the designs too, so mix it up if you want.
